I have perpetually dry lips and have trouble finding the perfect moisturizing lip balm that’s not full of yucky additives. So yesterday when I was experimenting with all my new supplies, I came up with this amazingly moisturizing lavender lip balm blend. The mix of oils, butters, and vitamin E nourish the skin and the lavender lends its soothing properties. Let me know how you like it!

Lavender Lip Balm

  • 1 1/2 tsp. shea butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cocoa butter
  • 1 tbsp. jojoba oil
  • 2 tsp. beeswax pellets
  • 7 drops lavender essential oil
  • 3 drops Vitamin E oil
  • Containers (I use these 5 ml pots)

Combine beeswax and oils in a glass bowl and heat slowly in microwave or double boiler until beeswax has melted and combined with oils. Remove bowl from heat and drop in essential oil and vitamin E oil. Immediately transfer the balm into your desired containers. Allow to cool completely before capping and using. This recipe will fill 4 of the 5 ml pots.

Notes

  • Be sure that all of the products you use are pure, food grade, and safe, preferably organic
  • Don’t forget to sterilize your containers

I get mine from Amazon, but you can also get most of the oils at health food stores.
